About a week ago I was all set to throw my workstation through a windowpane. Why? It was so long-winded! I realized that the computer was about three years old and I ran regular anti-virus software on the workstation, so I thought that it was just time to let it go.

Then out of pure coincidence I was having dinner with a colleague of mine and I guess he could sense the worry in my face. He asked me what was wrong and I told him that I had to get another computer. When he asked why, I told him I was sick of the PC taking forever just to boot up and beyond that when it did finally get up and running, I was tired of the overall slowness of the machine. He then made a testimonial to me that saved me money and saved my computer, “Get RegSERVO.”

After some quick research I found out that RegSERVO was designed to clean the registry of my workstation. According to my friend and the research, this would make a dramatic difference in the overall performance of my workstation. I decided to give RegSERVO a shot and I am so glad that I did.

I was simply shocked as to how many problems my workstation had because I had not had the registry cleaned or any of my drivers updated. The only thing mandatory to figure out what was wrong was to download RegSERVO and run a scan. When the scan was complete, I knew exactly what I was facing. Then with just a few more simple steps, my computer’s registry was cleaned and the process was over.

Still a bit skeptical that RegSERVO could absolutely fix my again computer, I turned it off and waited a few minutes before restarting it. Once I did restart my PC though, I quickly realized that RegSERVO was everything that my colleague had promised it to be.

For the first time in ages, my PC started right up and was geared up for me to surf the internet within what seemed like seconds. As I was surfing, I quickly realized that the errors and other mishaps were a thing of the past. To be honest, I don’t know if my computer ran that well when I took it out of the box brand new.

Excited I called my colleague and gave him thanks for the commendation RegSERVO. Because of that chance stumble upon and going with my gut feeling on RegSERVO, I now have a computer that may be older, but runs as though it were new. You don’t need to spend lots of money on a new computer or hire someone to fix your old computer if it begins to slow; you simply need to clean the registry easily and effortlessly with my computer’s personal savior, RegSERVO.

Everybody knows that portal web content management systems (WCM) have greatly transformed business practices regarding the Web, its functions, and other relevant information. WCM software has been programmed to the point where it can easily operate with other systems to ensure workplace effectiveness. However, to compete with the market leaders in your sector, the foremost WCM system must meet five important functions...

Circa 1998 saw companies start using the Web to sell their products, a development assisted by web content management systems (WCM). WCM software has now been developed to the point where it can easily function alongside other systems to ensure workplace productiveness. To effectively work with a WCM you should guarantee that it, and you, can meet the following pointers.

Before doing anything, companies would be advised to be aware of how these differ from other hosted WCM programs. Initially the raw info is transferred to the portal content management system which then promptly starts categorizing it, ensuring that it matches to predetermined parameters. Its next step is to organize and serve the data for company employees and remote personnel.

The WCM work flow must be regular and flexible. In addition, see if your web content management feature has the functionality to revise the information in question as mere input isn’t enough. Imagine the process as being like the input area in blog software or even the comments box on the public side of a blog.

Should you find that info is unable to be displayed, then the WCM is unsuitable. Possible problematic programs include unique files, images, word documents, macro’s etc. Do please note that these examples are only part of how to effectively use your WCM. What we are looking for is the information to be re-coded into a format readable by Web pages. This typically involves reading PHP, XML, HTML code.

Sure, it’s an obvious point to make, but never stint on security for your system. Industrial-strength security safeguards will easily be able to block unauthorized visitors, yet admins and workers within your company will be able to access the relevant information. The portal CMS combines collaboration and content management to vastly enhance the way information is dealt with. In closing: if the goal is to increase the efficiency of the way in which your company manages its time, we heartily endorse the portal CMS; for a protected database, integration and collation. You really couldn’t do much better with one of these operating at your command.

Due to the increasing amount of spam, effective filters are needed to survei and block unwanted mail, it is the only way to ensure correct functioning of Microsoft Exchange

Exchange Email Server – How to Filter Spam

By: Jane Y. Whigmore

The increase in the amount of spam e-mails raise the need to monitor and eliminate unwanted messages – ensuring that the Microsoft Exchange system function properly

Malware e-mail has turned out to be one of the greatest threats for todays business world because they add trouble and cut down productivity. Companies receive thousands of deceptive, indecent and irking e-mails in bulk on a regular basis. Spam is a jargon used commonly to express discarded, undesirable and promotional e-mails or junk e-mails. Spam is not an acronym, thus it doesn’t denote something. A spam e-mail is usually an e-mail with commercial content that is sent to thousands of recipients who never requested any kind of information from the person or organisation sending it.

Being bombarded with huge volum of unwanted e-mails with commercial content can cost businesses and individuals lots of resources and time while sorting and deleting unsolicited messages from the legitimate messages. This hinders an effective organisation and generates frustrated employees.

Deleting spam is a time consuming process, email server up-time and performance suffers, and your network faces a security risk from malevolent messages. Added to that, a company also risk that spam e-mails causes harm to systems and network that cannot be repaired which means disorder, work loss and increased costs.

The only guard against the threat from spam is professional asistance ensuring complete security and protection. Shielding your mail server correctly will guarantee that all passing messages and attached files are filtered against junk messages. Typically, a server spam filter is a software application that scrutinizes the incoming messages, spotting spam on the basis of pre-determined configurations while detaching the unwanted e-mail so that it never reaches the users inbox. And one of the widely used servers is that developed by Microsoft. Dubbed as Exchange Server, this Microsoft product makes e-mailing more speedy and resourceful.

Anti spam plugins for Microsoft Exchange is a great help filtering and stoppping malware e-mail. A server side spam filter enables users to automate the procedure to sort and remove spam at the server level i.e. before it reaches the internal network and each user’s personal computer. Automating is a suggested task as it saves the personal computer, and time of users in addition to the network from damage which can lead to information loss and downtime.

No anti-spam technology is perfect, periodically manual checking of all filtered messages by a network administrator is still needed to ensure that Exchange mail server is not blocking any legitimate e-mails.

Broadband Internet is an advanced and revolutionary technology that has allowed high-speed and efficient Internet service and connectivity. It is distinct in its operation from any other from of communication channel or network. In the ordinary base or narrow-band connection used in normal telephone lines, the fastest speed for transmission of data, even after using a speed modem, is only 56 kbps. Advanced technology in broadband allows a substantial amount of information to be carried and processed simultaneously at a faster rate. This leads to greater connectivity or web access, and higher download speeds. The Federal Communication Commission describes broadband as an Internet connection with a download speed higher than 200 kbps. The actual speed, however, can be as high as 256kbps, if not more.

A broadband Internet connection enables multiple data or information, video, image, audio or data signals of different frequencies to be transmitted simultaneously, at very high speed, to different network carriers. Broadband is like a tunnel with high capacity. There are different sub-tunnels, with each tunnel transmitting different information at a high speed. Each sub-tunnel is protected from any interference of disruption from the others. Distance doesn’t affect connectivity, especially in wi-fi and satellite broadband connections.

The broadband Internet connection operates by using several different technologies or media. A traditional dial-up connection uses a telephone line and a modem. The information is converted into analog form, leading to less connectivity and speed. The telephone line cannot be used for normal phone calls when Internet is in use. A broadband Internet connection also uses an existing telephone line for a DSL connection. The information is transmitted using the digital broadband technology; hence, speed and connectivity is higher. The other types include cable broadband connections using existing cable lines, T1 and T3 satellite and wi-fi (wireless fidelity) connections. In case of cable or DSL connection, TV or telephone functioning remains unaffected.

Broadband Internet provides detailed information on Broadband Internet, Broadband Internet Access, Broadband Satellite Internet, Broadband Internet Providers and more. Broadband Internet is affiliated with Broadband Speeds.

The wireless network in my house went haywire. It worked on three PCs, one had a horrible connection, and one can’t connect. Between Hubby and me, we spent a lot of time researching and trying to figure out the problem. We narrowed down the possibilities few by doing tests. Hubby is the network king in our house and I learned a bit in working with him. In fact, I solved the problem… temporarily.

I believe the wireless on the router is bad. It works fine when we hook miles of cable to it (I’ve tripped over them, knocked things down, and chased after a toddler who grabbed one.). I’m tired of looking at the cables, so we’re contacting the maker of this router as well as hunting for deals for a new wireless router with g (as in 802.11g).

Here are some of the tricks and troubleshooting tips I’ve learned in playing with the router:

Look at how many computers can connect and how many can’t. This tells you a story. If all of them don’t work, then the problem is most likely the router itself. Maybe it needs a simple hard reset. Try a soft reset first (turning it off and back on). If that doesn’t do it, do a hard reset following the instructions for your router. Mine required holding the reset button while turning it off and back on and not letting go until about a minute after turning it back on.

If no computer wirelessly connects to the network, check to see if the router still works by connecting to it with a cable. If it works here, you know the router is still alive. It doesn’t necessarily mean the wireless is dead. Obviously, if your router is strictly wireless and not dual like mine (cable and wireless), this won’t work. Instead, you can test by bypassing the router and plugging your LAN cable directly into the DSL/Cable modem.

Do a little pingin’. It could be the ISP is down and not a router problem. Open a command prompt window (Start > Run > type “cmd” > hit Enter) and type “ipconfig /all” and you should get a response back with your IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and other items. What you are looking for is the IP address of the “Default Gateway.”

At the command line, type “ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX” where XXX = the numbers listed as the Default Gateway. For example, my default gateway address is 192.168.1.1, therefore, I would type “ping 192.168.1.1″ If you get a response, then your router is working. Next, try to ping a site. You don’t need to know the IP address. You can ping by Web address. For example, type “ping www.marqui.com” and you should get a response with the ping times from an IP address. That IP address is Marqui’s. How did your computer know this? Through DNS (Domain Naming Service), but that’s another topic. If you can’t ping a site on the Internet, the problem is most likely with your ISP.

Have a cordless phone? Some cordless phones disconnect wireless connections while you’re using it. Stupid, but it happens. I have one that does just that and another that doesn’t mess with it. Aggravating. I wanted to return the phone, but it was a “no return” phone. If I had known it would mess with the wireless, I would have never bought it. So I learned that the next time I buy a phone, to check to see if it will kill the wireless or not.

Ensure configuration is correct. Check the router’s manual to complete this step.

Try changing the channel. If that doesn’t work, change the SSID (aka name) and the channel. If your wireless’ SSID is “Wireless” and is on channel 5. First, try changing the channel to 11 or anything other than 5. If that doesn’t work, then create a new SSID like “Router” and pick a channel, any channel. It never hurts to reboot the router after each change, although when making changes to it, it resets itself. This step is what got our network working again.

The process for changing it depends on your router. For mine, all I had to do is enter its IP address (200.200.1.1, for example) in the browser, enter the ID and password, and I am in. It’s similar to a software or application screen. Enter info, select drop-down boxes, and click buttons to change / save.

Another good thing to know is to point your mouse over the wireless icon in the system tray. It provides basic information about your wireless connection. It provides information on the SSID, speed, and strength. The blacked out part in the image is where the SSID is located. Also, get more information by right-clicking on the icon and selecting “View Available Wireless Network” or “Open Network Connections.”

You may have WEP turned on. This secures others from using your wireless because it requires a password. If it’s on, verify each PC has it enabled and the correct password or passphrase.

This is a handful of what you can do. Other options are more detailed and complex. But this is a good start and will help eliminate a majority of possibilities.

Internet marketing is a vast world of ebays, e books. Superstores, small niche stores, and everything else under the rainbow. The Internet is one of the best places in todays world to start a business. So how do you find your place in this crazy Internet world? To figure this out, there are a few questions you should be asking yourself:

What are my goals?

How much money can I invest?

What are my interests ?

What is realistically available to me to work with?

How much time can I invest?

Without a doubt the remedy to all your concerns is using Internet marketing to sell information products online. By information products I mean e-books, audio, courses, and video. No matter what your goals, big or small, the Internet makes your goals virtually limitless. Low on cash to start a new business ? Its free to write and create an e-book, and very low cost to build your own website. If you have money to invest, great, you can use it on better features for your website.

Got a passion you’ve never really explored ? Write an e-book about it! Have fun and create a great product at the same time.

Worried about what resources could be available to you with little money to invest ? Dont worry, just start somewhere, and you can grow to bigger and better things. When you work on the Internet, the whole world is available to you!

Barely enough hours in the day ? Lucky for you selling information can become a perpetual income. This means once you create your product, only minimal effort is needed to maintain your business. With autoresponders doing your emailing, and online payment options taking payments, your business is on autopilot and you can focus your valuable time on the product. Young or old, family of 10 or family of one, all around the world, Internet marketing is for everyone and can work for you. Internet marketing can be very fun and very profitable. You just have to set your mind to creating your new business to fulfill your goals, and you can start right NOW.

Best wishes!

DS3 Bandwidth Pricing Is Getting Cheaper – How To Best Take Advantage

The predicted end to dropping DS3 bandwidth pricing is premature as the downward pricing trend continues. Service providers are up against stiffer competition and are desperate for new customers to fill their pipes and turn a profit. If you’re ready to negotiate for a rock bottom price, first consider a few of the reasons for the drop in price on DS3 bandwith. A little preperation will allow you to take best advantage of the situation.

DS3 bandwidth pricing had reduced as companies have gone out of business and the large number of telecommunications companies are fighting for a place in a smaller market. While many service providers did have room to lose margin, many have come dangerously close to the edge of selling circuits at a loss and many have gone beyond this point. It seems that in the race to the bottom many providers failed to learn the lesson that selling at a loss does not create a long lasting and healthy company no matter how many circuits or widgets you sell. Many companies selling at a loss have already been in bankruptcy and look like they will repeat this exercise as they did not learn from their first go around. So, solvency of the DS3 bandwidth provider should be a consideration when looking at great bargains.

Another consideration in bargain shopping for DS3 service is the fact that all DS3’s are not created equal. Many providers are convinced (and rightly so) that customers are focused on price and are not concerned with quality of service. Many providers are now oversubscribing DS3 service connections as though they were DSL connections. This means you may not get the bandwidth you thought you would get. Make sure when you look for that bargain price you also review the SLA (Service Level Agreement) and make sure the contract protects you and guarantees you will get the bandwidth to which they committed. Remember, when bargain hunting for DS3 service you’ll most likely get what you pay for.

So the general moral to the story is by all means do negotiate for the best price you can get. But….ensure that critical factors such as reliability, Service Level Agreement, QoS, and scalability are met in addition to price attractiveness. For this I receommend sticking with a Tier1 provider for best price AND piece of mind. It just makes business sense.

The revolution is just getting started and will be begin to make its mark this year. By 2010, it will begin to take off. By 2025, it will be the standard for all TV viewing. It’s called Internet Protocol Television, or IPTV for short. IPTV works with a set-top box connected to any broadband interface and to a TV. It will allow users to choose among thousands (and eventually hundreds of thousands) of hours of programming, including movies, sports, classic TV, etc., and download their selections from the internet to the hard drive of the set-top box.

Initially, set-top box hard drives will be able to store up to 300 hours of programming at a time, but capacity will expand as the technology becomes more refined. Also, download times will become shorter and shorter as broadband connection speeds become faster and faster. Eventually, a two-hour movie will be fully downloadable in a couple of minutes. Once the programs are downloaded to the hard drive, they can be viewed on the connected TV at any time via a DVR-type interface provided by the set-top box.

Besides the convenience of an all video-on-demand (VOD) environment, IPTV will provide a much wider range of programming than broadcast, cable, and satellite TV, or even major video chains, could ever provide. Because the programming is available from the internet, it will be almost completely unlimited and unconstrained. Programming from all over the world will be available along with every imaginable genre of niche programming. Also, previously unreleased independent films that have been sitting on shelves for years due to the lack of a distribution source will suddenly become available to the masses via IPTV. Films that previously could not be made at all will become a reality and be available on the IPTV services. Long forgotten films and TV shows will have new life breathed into them by IPTV. To top it all off, much of this programming will be eventually be available in high definition (HDTV)!

Most IPTV platforms will be divided into “channels”, but not the same kind of channels that we have grown accustomed to with traditional TV services. In this case, a “channel” is defined as a division of an IPTV service by individual content provider. Each content provider carried by a given IPTV platform will have its own guidelines for delivering programming on its channel. Some will provide their content for free to everyone who owns a given IPTV product. Some will be subscription based, i.e., everything on their channels will be available for a monthly or annual subscription. Others will be all pay-per-view. Still others will provide a combination of all of the above.

Several entrants into this market have either already debuted or plan to debut sometime this year. Among those are Akimbo (www.akimbo.com), DAVETV (www.dave.tv), TimeShifTV (www.timeshiftv.com), and VCinema (www.vcinema.com). Please see their respective websites for more details, as each one will offer a slightly different variation of IPTV technology. In addition, a joint venture between TiVo (www.tivo.com) and NetFlix (www.netflix.com) will be starting up later this year. TiVo plans to eventually make the entire Netflix DVD library available to its customers on an on-demand basis via a broadband connection to a TiVo box and a TV. Other potential IPTV contenders will be announcing their intentions over the next year or two. One of these nascent IPTV services headquartered near my home has already started placing “help wanted” ads in my local newspaper.

Within the next 20 years, all the fuss over broadcast TV indecency will become irrelevant, as there will be very little other than news and live sporting events on broadcast TV. The major networks will shift most of their entertainment programs to IPTV to avoid all the broadcast content restrictions currently being enforced by the FCC. Eventually, broadcast TV will cease to exist. Cable and satellite services as we know them will also become extinct. Yes, there will still be cable and satellite platforms, but they, along with DSL and wireless internet services, will exist merely as conduits for bringing broadband internet into homes and offices. There won’t be any more cable and satellite TV, per se. The now 60-year-old paradigm of television schedules in which programs air at specific times on specific days of the week will pretty much be a thing of the past. Everything, except what’s left of broadcast TV, will be exclusively available on demand via an IPTV platform.

These developments in no way mean that all TV programming will become more risqué. While there will be plenty of risqué programming available to those who want it, there will an almost unlimited supply of family and religious programs available. With a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment options at your fingertips, there will be something available for all tastes. IPTV may not turn out to be a TV utopia, but it’s at least going to come close that ideal.
