Ken Mehlman
As the managing director and head of Global Public Affairs at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, Ken Mehlman has his focus fixed on constructive outreach to the stakeholders of KKR and its portfolio companies worldwide. His position makes him responsible for overseeing government relations, public relations, and investor relations on a global basis.
Prior to joining KKR, Ken Mehlman was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, where he was able to extend his assistance to individuals and businesses in managing risk and in grasping opportunities that are a means of connection to public policy and business.
Mehlman worked in public service for many years. From 2005 until 2007, he was the 62nd chairman of the Republican National Committee, and in 2004, Ken Mehlman worked as the campaign manager for former President Bush’s re-election campaign. He also served in high-ranking positions in the White House and in Congress. When George Bush became US President, he served as the White House’s political director.
Moreover, Ken Mehlman is actively involved in several organizations and councils like:
the Council on Foreign Relations,
the Senior Advisory Committee of the Harvard University Institute of Politics,
the Council on Foreign Relations Climate Change Task Force
the executive leadership cabinet of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation, and
membership in the director’s board of the National Endowment for Democracy
Ken Mehlman completed his B.A. degree at the Franklin and Marshall College. He holds a Juris Doctor, which he received in 1991 from Harvard Law school.
